Finding the Treasure

Whether we find God because we are searching or because God finds us first, we enter the Kingdom of Heaven by buying into that experience and making it the focus of our lives. My homily for this weekend is posted here.

awesome homily, again, Fr. C! thank you, again! as i reflect on what i learned from your homily this week, i feel that, yes, absolutely, we all experience and find God or He finds us in many different ways. that's what makes us all unique. i think that the more we trust God and put Him first, the clearer we see how He is truly working in our lives. sometimes we don't always see how God can be working in our lives when we are going through the difficult times, but after we pass through a difficult or painful experience and come out of it, we can look back and see just how things unfolded and how God was and is always there. i feel that the difficult times are learning experiences and that they help us to become stronger and closer to God and they help us to trust God more and more and we start to see things more clearly. God does not want us to worry, but to just put things in His hands and it WILL work out. i've had many experiences in life where this has happened and i have clearly seen how God has always been there. many times, i haven't seen or understood how God was working until passing through the difficult or painful experience and then looked back and then understood how God worked it all out. these experiences have taught me not to worry - i hardly ever worry about anything anymore becase i know that God will take care of everything, just like He tells us He will. just remember the part from today's second reading from Romans where it tells us: "And we know that all things work together for good to those that love God, to those who are called according to His purpose."
something else from Sacred Scripture comes to mind in regard to worrying and putting God first in our lives. i think it's from the Gospel according to St. Matthew, chapter 6, where we are reminded that "worrying does not add a single moment to our life span" and that we should "learn from the way the wild flowers grow and that not even Solomon in all his splendor was clothed like one of them" also, in Matthew, chapter 6, we are reminded to "seek ye first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness and all these things will be given unto you." we will find our treasure, which is God all around us - EVERYWHERE! and we will have the PEACE that only He can give!
thank you, again, Fr. C, for such an inspirational homiy that has helped me to reflect and focus like this. see you soon!
pax et bonum!
